Full Time Diploma Programs

McKenzie College has been providing technical and creative educational programs for over twenty-five years.

Our challenge as a registered Nova Scotia College is to provide innovative career training. We have consistently adapted our programs to meet the changing needs of the marketplace.

McKenzie College was the first institution in Eastern Canada to provide technical training in digital media and computer animation. Graduates of McKenzie College can be found across Canada in leading positions in creative media. We have continued to strive to provide relevant diploma and occupational training programs and are currently emphasizing our industrial trades training programs.

Our commercial driving and equipment operation programs have become very popular and are the only commercial driving training programs available on Cape Breton Island. Heavy Equipment operation is available in the spring and summer season and teaches students how to operate the front end loader, backhoe, bulldozer and excavator. Straight Truck / Forklift is designed for the logistics and transportation industry and trains students to operate a Class-3 vehicle and commercial forklift. Earthmoving combines Class-3 licensing and the operation of a dump  truck, backhoe and mini excavator. Basic and High Pressure Welding provides exceptional employment opportunities for graduates and is the only program in NS to include needed certifications within the cost of the program. More information on these programs are available in the Driving Programs section on our web site.

The medical industry is one of the most consistently growing industries in Canada. Our Medical Transcriptionprogram provides intensive training in anatomy and medical terminology. Graduates have employment potential in hospital transcription departments, doctors offices and private transcription firms.

Our Business Accounting program provides students with practical skills in manual accounting and includes instruction using the two most popular accounting software packages, Quickbooks and Simply Accounting. More information on our business programs is available in the Business section on our web site.

Security Alarm Technician is a newly recognized trade in Nova Scotia and McKenzie College is the first institution in Nova Scotia to provide training for students wanting to enter the trade as  an apprentice.

Student Loan Applicants

You can begin your application process for Student assistance immediately upon submitting your application. Most applications for student assistance are now made online. Our registration office can assist you with completing your application.

Your student loan application requires that you submit proof of income and employment where applicable. This material can be mailed or faxed to the student loan office after you complete your application online.

Once your student loan application is complete you should notify our student assistance office so that we may forward to student assistance a confirmation of your enrolment into your program along with the program start and end dates.
